National Youth
Filmmaker Summit

Identity design

Animated bumper commissioned for the 2021 Filmmaker Summit

I had the opportunity to collaborate with the National Youth Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY), the world's largest film festival for young filmmakers. The nonprofit launched its first-ever filmmaker summit in 2021, bringing together the film community to share career advice in a series of panels, roundtables, and workshops.

I was tasked with creating an original visual identity to deploy on all Summit materials—posters, animations, social media, web ads, merch, slides, programs, and more!

The design concept, “Framing Creativity”, responds to the Summit’s interdisciplinary focus while maintining a central reference to film. The approach centers colorful, quirky, and youthful illustrations alluding to the objects and ideas at play in the Summit’s series of workshops. Hands are a common motif in the collateral—used to literally and figuratively frame the content—just as these filmmakers might frame a shot in their creations.

The Summit was held October 4–November 6, 2021. Produced in partnership with the City of Seattle.
